Yesterday arch. Alexander Daw represented SGI and the Bulgarian Green Building Council at the Energy for Green Future Conference, organized by the Ministry of Energy. The guests of the forum included representatives of the government, energy companies, municipalities, institutes and universities, international and Bulgarian financial institutions, diplomats, and others.

Mr. Daw was part of the panel Energy Savings, where he talked about the role that the Built Environment plays in the future of energy efficiency. “The built environment accounts for over 40% of Global carbon emissions. What is even more surprising is that around 75 % of that is actually caused by the embodied carbon from the use of energy in material production & transportation.”

This is part of the insightful information that arch. Alexander Daw presented in front of the conference’s audience. The presentation gave an overview of the tools used by architects in order to achieve efficiency in architectural design and city planning, the burden that material production has on the carbon footprint and the “Global policy principals for a sustainable built environment” that the World Green Building Council has issued in order to tackle these issues and reduce emissions by 50% by 2030.
